ATBUTH calls for partnerships to improve healthcare

The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, ATBUTH, has called for stronger partnerships to improve healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting on Thursday, Prof. Yusuf Bara Jibrin, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, stressed that lasting progress in healthcare requires collaboration between the government, the private sector, NGOs, and the public.

“No institution can thrive alone. To achieve excellence, we must work together to make healthcare more efficient, accessible, and sustainable,” he said.

Prof. Bara highlighted the importance of modern technology in improving patient care, including digital health records and minimally invasive surgeries.

He also emphasised ATBUTH’s commitment to affordable healthcare, offering free emergency services, subsidised dialysis, and maternal care programmes.

According to him, with over 850 beds, ATBUTH continues to expand, recently acquiring new medical equipment, including a CT scanner.

He added that the hospital also trains over 300 healthcare professionals annually in partnership with the ATBU College of Medical Sciences, ATBUTH College of Nursing Sciences, and the School of Health Information Management.

Prof. Bara urged all stakeholders to work together to build a stronger healthcare system that benefits everyone.
