Lawyer to the embattled singer, Speed Darlington, Stan Alieke, has expressed his frustration in trying to get his client released from police custody.
The lawyer spoke following Darlington’s continued detention by the police despite being granted bail by the court on December 23, 2024.
DAILY POST reports that the singer was rearrested on November 27, over allegations of cyberstalking Burna Boy.
Barely a month after his arrest, the Federal High Court in Abuja granted him bail on Monday, December 23, but his continued detention after the court order has sparked outrage among his supporters and legal team.
While updating the public on the singer’s case on Friday, Alieke who noted that he has exhausted all his connections, also accused the police of disobeying the order of the Federal High Court.
In a now trending video shared on his Instagram page, the lawyer insinuated that Burna Boy might have bribed the police to keep Darlington behind bars.
“We have done everything a lawyer should do to get his clients out. I have even exhausted all my connections. I have reached out to my political friends here in Abuja. The police have refused to obey the court order. There’s no justification for not obeying the court that granted Darlington bail.
“The first time he was arrested in October, Burna came there with his team and I was also there with Akpi and some of my staff. After the meeting, I saw Burna sharing bundles of cash with the police and the police were asking for selfies. I told my staff that, see, if this guy makes a mistake again, these people will drill him.”
