Christmas: Pray for Nigeria to overcome challenges – Ibadan indigenes tell Christians

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, has enjoined Christians across the country to use the Christmas season to pray fervently for Nigeria to overcome her challenges.

CCII made this appeal via a statement signed by its President General, Chief Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, a copy of which was made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday through the Publicity Secretary of the organisation, Mr. Kola Olomide.

Ajewole, in the statement, urged Christians in the ancient city and Oyo State in general to use the period of festivities to pray for the country to overcome the current socio-economic challenges.

He appealed to governments at all levels to continue to provide the basic and essential amenities for the people to reduce the level of hardship in the country.

Ajewole also appealed to well to do individuals to continue to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged.

In the same vein, he appealed to security operatives in the state to put in more efforts in order to secure the city and the state in general during and after the Christmas celebrations.

“All the adherents to various religious groups in Ibadanland have been living together since time immemorial. CCII is using this opportunity to appeal to the indigenes and residents to continue with this

“I urge Christians in Ibadanland and Oyo state in general to use the period of festivities to pray for Nigeria to overcome all the challenges bedeviling the country.

“I want to appeal to governments at all levels to continue to provide the basic and essential amenities for the people to reduce the level of hardship in the country. At the same time, I want to appeal to the well to do individuals to continue to put smile on the faces of the less privileges.

“I also want to commend the security operatives for the job well-done. I want to appeal to them to put in more efforts in order to secure the city and the state in general during and after the Christmas celebrations,” the statement added.
