Suspected kidnappers arrested in Kwara

Criminal elements suspected to be kidnappers were arrested on Sunday in Oke-Ode community, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara state.

The feat was achieved by a combined effort of Fulani vigilantes, Yoruba hunters and local vigilantes, according to a source in the community who confided in DAILY POST on Monday.

The spokesperson of the state police command headquarters in Ilorin, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, was yet to confirm the development at the time of this report.

However, the state chairman of the Miyatti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MICBAN, Idris Abubakar Sakaina, commended the efforts of the joint groups in the determination to rid the area of all forms of crime.

According to a statement by the spokesman of the association, Abubakar Muhammed Kangodabe, “the groups successfully apprehended several suspected kidnappers and rescued the kidnapped victims”.

“In addition, the vigilantes recovered several weapons, including AK-47 rifles, along with hard drugs and various items seized from the victims.”

He said the swift intervention of the vigilantes led to the arrest of the suspected kidnappers and the release of their victims.

“The entire executive council and members of this great association are immensely pleased with the bravery and commitment of the vigilantes.

“In recognition of their outstanding service, the association honors them and pledges continued support to strengthen efforts against terrorism, banditry and all forms of criminal activities in the area,” the statement added.
